an English minister of the Society of Friends, was born in London in 1774, and became a Christian in early life. Engaging in secular pursuits, he was greatly prospered in his business, and, as a "steward" of God, generously distributed the good things which came into his hands. He began to speak as a minister in 1797, and subsequently, at different times, in company with other ministers he made religious visits in different parts of England and Scotland.
