Bethany Beyond Jordan
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(i.e. Bethabara). Conder (Handbook of the Bible, p. 315) regards this as another form of Bataancea or Bashan; but this identification is precarious, and the region indiῥ cated is too far north and east.
