(Heb. Bidkar', בַּדְקִר, according to Gesenius, for בֶּןאּדְּקָר , son of stabbing, i.e. assassin; according to First, for עֶבֶדאּקָר, servant [i.e. inhabitant] of the city; Sept. Βαδεκάρ; Josephus, Βάδακρος ), Jehu's "captain" (שָׁלַשׁ; Josephus, ὅ τῆς τρίτης μοίρας ἡγεμών, Ant. 9:6, 3), originally his fellow-officer (2 Kings 9:25), who completed the sentence on Jehoram, son of Ahab, by casting his body into the field of Naboth after Jehu had transfixed him with an arrow.
