Bishopric (2)
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(ἐπισκοπή, oversight, Acts 1:20), ministerial charge in the Church. In later times it came to mean
(1) the office and function of a bishop (q.v.), and
(2) the district over which he has jurisdiction. (See DIOCESE); (See EPISCOPACY).
