Bloemaert, Cornelius

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

an eminent Dutch engraver, son of Abraham, was born at Utrecht in 1603, and studied under Crispin de Passe. His prints are numerous and greatly admired. The following are some of the principal: The Virgin Mary, with the Infant Jesus sleeping; Christ at Table with his Disciples; St. Paul Preaching at Athens; St. Luke Painting the Virgin and Infant; The Holy Family.
