Bottala, Giovanni Maria

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(sometimes called Rafaellino), an Italian painter, was born at Savona, near Genoa, in 1613, and studied under P. da Cortona at Rome. He painted several pictures for the cardinal Sacchetti, the most important of which was the Meeting of Jacob and Esau; afterwards placed in Rome by Benedict XIV.
