Buttner, Johann Ernst

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Lutheran minister of Germany, was born April 11, 1648, at Friedersdorf, in Upper Lausatia. He studied at Jena; was in 1676 conrector at Lemgo, in 1678 at Stade, in 1685 deacon there; in 1699 he was made pastor primarius of St. Nicolai; and died March 13, 1725. He wrote, Disp. de Essenis (Jena): De Nonzine A Messice Glorioso Jehovah Justitia nostra ex Jer. xiii, 6: Inquisitio Theol. in Historian Joannisfili Zacharice (ibid. 1670): Disp.
