Caccianiga, Francesco

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

an Italian painter, was born at Milan in 1700, and studied under Franceschini at Bologna. He afterwards went to Rome, where he obtained the favor of the prince Borghese, for whom he executed a number of works. . His best productions are at Ancona, where he painted several altar-pieces, the best of which are the Marriage of the Virgin, and the Last Supper. He died at Rome in 1781. See Spooner Biog.
