Card-Cloth

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(or Care-cloth) is a long piece of rich Indian silk, held over a bride and bridegroom at their marriage, during the Middle Ages. This rite obtains in Ireland, in the Tyrol, and in parts of Spain still.
