Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

an eminent French designer and engraver, was born at Lions, in May, 1699. When young he went to Paris, and soon, acquired distinction. Cars may be considered one of the best artists of his time, in the class of subjects he has represented. He died at Paris, April 4, 1771. The following are some of his principal works: The Adoration of the Shepherds; The Flight into Egypt The Chastity of Joseph; Adam and Eve before their Sin;. Adam and Eve after their Sin.
