Charenton, Joseph Nicolas

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a French ecclesiastic, was born at Blois in 1659. He entered the Jesuit order in 1675, and went to India as a missionary. After his return to France he lived successively at Orleans, Nantes, and Paris. He died in the latter city, Aug. 10, 1735, leaving, Entretiens de I'Ame (from Thomas a Kempis, Paris, 1706) :-a French translation of the General History of Spain of P.
