confessor and bishop, is one of the thirty saints enumerated in the ancient catalogues and martyrologies of the Church of Metz. Chlodulphus took holy orders, but was never a monk or a hermit. He succeeded his father, St. Arnulphus, in the bishopric of Metz, and is said to have been an excellent and renowned prelate, skilled alike in Church aid State.
