Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Congregational minister, was born at Newton, Mass., Dec. 25, 1730. He graduated from Harvard College in 1752, was ordained pastor of the Church in Lexington, Nov. 5, 1755, and remained. there more than- half a century. In consequence of inadequate salary he was compelled to cultivate a farm. He died at Lexington, Nov. 15, 1805. As a preacher he was awarded a high rank among his brethren, being animated in manner and instructive in matter. As a patriot, during the war of the Revolution, he was ardent. and decided.
