Cloppenburg, Johann Everhard

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Reformed theologian of Holland, was born at Amsterdam, May 13, 1592. He studied chiefly in Leyden, was in 1616 preacher at Aalborg, in 1618 at Heusden, in 1621 at Amsterdam, and in 1630 at Briel. In 1640 he was appointed professor and preacher at Harderwick, in 1644 professor of theology and university preacher at Franeker, and died in France, Aug. 30, 1654. He wrote: Sacrificiorum Patriarchalium Schola Sacra: De die Comesti a Christo Agni Paschalis, Atque de Sttbbatho Deuteroproto: Syntagma Exercitatioum Electarum, etc. His Theologica Opera Omnia were published at Amsterdam, 1684, 2 vols., and a second edition of his Syntagma, at Franeker, 1655.
