Cochin, Charles Nicolas (1)

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a French designer and engraver, was born in Paris in 1688, and studied painting until he was nineteen, when he devoted himself to engraving. The following are some of his principal plates: The Meeting of Jacob and Esau; Jacob and Laban; Jacob Pursued by Laban; Rebekah with the Servant of Abr'ham; The Trinity and the Assumption; The Lame Man Cured.
