an English clerical writer of the last part of the 16th and the first part of the 17th centuries, was a native of Somersetshire; educated at Lincoln College, Oxford; made priest on the Continent; returned to England, and was cast into the Tower of London; condemned, afterwards reprieved, set free, and sent out of the country.
