a Presbyterian minister, was born at Harrodsburg, Kentucky, February 2, 1809. He was carefully reared by Christian parents; graduated from Centre College, Danville, in 1832; studied two years (1833-34) in Princeton Theological Seminary; was licensed in 1836 by the New Brunswick Presbytery, and became pastor, May 24, 1837, in Steubenville, Ohio, where he labored until the close of his life, December 1, 1861.
