a Baptist minister, was born in South Carolina about 1776. He was converted at the age of fifteen, and graduated from Brown University in 1797; pursued his theological studies with Reverend Dr. Furman; was ordained as an evangelist, and successively became pastor of the Eutaw, the Beaufort, and the Mount Pisgah churches.
