Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Δαισάν v. r. Δεσάν, Vulg. Desanon), the head of one of the families of temple-servants that returned from Babylon (1 Esdras v: 31); evidently a corruption ( ר being mistaken for ד ) for the REZIN (See REZIN) (q.v.) of the Hebrew texts (Ezra 2:48; Nehemiah 7:50).
