(Hebrews only in the prolonged form Dodava'hu, דּוֹדָוָהוּ v.r. דֹּדָוָהוּ, beloved of Jehovah; Sept. Δωδία v.r. ᾿Ωδία, Vulg. Dodan), an inhabitant of Mareshah, and father of the Eliezer who predicted the wreck of Jehoshaphat's fleet auxiliary to Ahaziah (2 Chronicles 20:37). B.C. ante 895. In the Jewish traditions Dodavah is the putative son of Jehoshaphat, who was (in reality) his uncle (Jerome, Qu. Heb. ad loc.).
