Durell, David, D.D.

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

was born in the Isle of Jersey in 1728, and was educated at Oxford, where he was afterwards fellow of Hertford College, and then principal. In 1764 he took his degree of DD, and in 1767 was made prebendary of Canterbury. He died in 1775. He published The Hebrew Text of the parallel Prophecies of Jacob and Moses relating to the twelve Tribes (Oxford, 1764, 4to): Remarks on Job, Proverbs, Psalms, Ecclesiastes, and Canticles (Oxford, 1772, 4to).Kippis, Biog.
