Escobar, Bartolomeo de

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Spanish missionary, who spent his life and fortune in pious labors, was born at Seville in 1562. He became a Jesuit in the West Indies, where he lived seventeen years, and afterwardsspent three years at Lima, dying there in 1624, and leaving, Conciones in Quinquagesima (Lyons, 1617): Conciones de Festis Domini (Paris, 1624): Conciones super Omnes Beatce Virginis Festivitates (ibid. eod.): Sermones de la Concepcion (Oviedo, 1622).
