Extispices
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(Lat. exta, entrails, and specio, to look), a name sometimes given to the ancient haruspices (q.v.), because it was their duty carefully to examine the entrails of the victims offered in sacrifice.
