Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Gaddil', גִּדַּיאֵל fortune [i.e., sent] of God; Sept. Γαδδιήλ v.r. Γουδιήλ ), son of Sodi, of the tribe of Zebulon. He represented that tribe among the twelve "spies" sent by Moses to explore Canaan (Numbers 13:10), B.C. 1657.
