Girdle of St. Austin, Fraternity of the

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a devotional society of the Roman Church. The girdle which they wear is made of leather, and they allege that it was worn by the Virgin Mary, John the Baptist, and many patriarchs and prophets.
