an English divine, was born in Gloucestershire in 1715, and educated at Abingdon; in Berkshire, and at Pembroke College, Oxford. He was rector of Cleverton, near Bath, and of Kilmersdon. He died in 1804. Among his best-known works are the Festoon, or Collection of Epigrams: — Lucubrations in Prose and Verse, published under the name of Peter Pomfret: — The Spiritual Quixote: — Sermons on Various Subjects.
