Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Hodiyah', הוֹדַיָּה , majesty of Jehovah; Sept. ᾿Ωδουία, ᾿Ωδουίας, ᾿Ωδούα, ᾿Ωδουϊ v α), the name of at least two men.

1. One of the Levites who assisted Ezra in expounding the law to the people (Nehemiah 8:7; Nehemiah 9:5),.and subscribed Nehemiah's covenant (10:18; his name is apparently repeated in Nehemiah 9:13). B.C. cir. 410.

2. One of the chief Israelites who subscribed the covenant with Nehemiah (Nehemiah 10:18). B.C. cir. 410.
