Hommel, Johann Christoph

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born September 13, 1685, at Weissenfels. He studied at Leipsic, was in 1712 bachelor of theology, in 1729 superintendent at Neustadt, and died October 17, 1746, member of consistory, first court-preacher, and general superintendent of the duchy of Hildburghausen. He wrote, Disp. inz Matthew 24:29 (Leipsic, 1712): De Fidelibus Veteris Testanenti Extra Ecclesiam Judaicam Visibilen Dispersis: De Consequentiis Evangelico-Lutheranae Ecclesiae ab Adversariis Falso Imputais: De Praerogativis Judaeorum Vet.
