Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Chuppah', חֻפָּה , a covering or bridal canopy, as in Psalms 19:6; also protected, as in Isaiah 4:5; Sept. Ο᾿φφά v.r. Ο᾿πφά, and even Ο᾿χχοφφά ), the head of the thirteenth of the twenty-four classes into which David divided the priests (1 Chronicles 24:13). B.C. 1014.
