a Congregational minister, was born at Newton, Pa., Jan. 20, 1755, graduated at Princeton College in 1775, entered the ministry in 1778, and was ordained pastor of the Presbyterian church in Alexandria in 1780. In 1788 he went to Charleston, S. C., as colleague pastor of the Congregational church, in which position he labored until his death, Dec. 14, 1813.
