a Presbyterian minister, was born in Wellsville, Ohio, Oct. 3, 1840; graduated at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1858; studied divinity at the Western Theological Seminary, Allegheny City, Pa., and was licensed to preach in April, 1861. The winter of 1862-63 he spent at Princeton, N. J.; subsequently he preached in Virginia and Illinois; and was finally ordained and installed pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, Iowa. He afterwards spent a short time in the service of the Christian Commission in Georgia, where he contracted the illness of which he died, Aug. 28. 1864.
