(Μελεᾶς, of uncertain signification), u person named as the son of Menan and father of Eliakim, among the maternal ancestry, of Jesus, in the private line of David (Luke 3:31), but the name itself i3 of doubtful authenticity (see Meth. Quar. Revelation 1852, p. 597).
