Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. O'tsem, אֹצֶם, strength; Selt. Ἀσόμ v.r. Ἀσάμ, and Ἀσάν; Vulg. Assom and Asom), the name of two men of the tribe of Judah.

1. The fourth of the sons of Jerahmeel by his first wife (1 Chronicles 2:25). B.C. cir. 1656.

2. The sixth son of Jesse, and brother of David (1 Chronicles 2:15). B.C. cir. 1100.
