Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Renmalyahu, רְמִלְיָהוּ , protected of Jehovah; Sept. ῾Ραμελίος or ῾Ρομελίος, v. r. ῾Ρομελία ), the father of Pekah, king of Israel (2 Kings 15:25; 2 Kings 15:27; 2 Kings 15:30; 2 Kings 15:32; 2 Kings 15:37; 2 Kings 16:1; 2 Kings 16:5; 2 Chronicles 28:6), probably a man whose character was such as to make his name a reproach to his descendants (Isaiah 7:4-5; Isaiah 8:6).
