Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(גָּרָב, garab, Deuteronomy 28:27; elsewhere "scurvy," a diseased scurf on the skin; מַסְפִחִת, mispachath, Leviticus 13:6-8; a harmless cutaneous eruption; סִפִּחִת, sappachath, Leviticus 13:2mange in the hair causing it to fall out; kindred with these last two is שָׂפִח for סָפִח, saphach, to "smite with a scab," Isaiah 3:17, i.e. premature baldness; יִלֶּפֶת, yallepheth, Leviticus 21:20; Leviticus 22:22, an itching or tetter in the skin).
