Seventy Years

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

is a frequent number in Scripture, both symbolical and literal; e.g. the seventy years of Tyre's depression after its capture by Nebuchadnezzar till its relief by the downfall of Babylon (Isaiah 23:15-17); and especially the seventy years of, the Jewish captivity at Babylon (Jeremiah 25:11; Jeremiah 29:10).
