Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Shama', שָׁמָע, obedient; Sept. Σαμμά v.r. Σαμμαθά ), the first named of two sons of Hothan, who were valiant captains in the bodyguard of David (1 Chronicles 11:44). B.C. cir. 1020. (See DAVID).
