Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Shephi', שׁפַי , bareness, hence a naked hill; Sept. Σωφί v.r. Σωφάρ ), the fourth named of the five sons of Shobal the son of the aboriginal Seir of Edom (1 Chronicles 1:40), called in the parallel passage (Genesis 36:23) Shepho (Heb. Shepho', שְׁפוֹ, of the same signification, Sept. Σωφάρ ), which Burrington (Genealogies, 1, 49) regards as the preferable, reading. B.C. cir, 1920.
