Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Shimanz', שַׁמְעָם , their fame; Sept. Σαμαά v. r. Σαμά ), a descendant of Jehiel the Benjamite, and a chief resident at Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 9:38); elsewhere (1 Chronicles 8:32) called SHIMEAH (See SHIMEAH) (q.v.).
