(Heb. with the art. hesh-Shimi', הִשַּׁמְעֵי , a patronymic from Shimnei; Sept. ὁ Σεμε ‹; A. V. "the Shimeites"), a name (Numbers 3:21; comp. Zechariah 12:13) of the descendants of Shimei 1, the son of Gershon.
