Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Sippay', סַפִּי , my bowls or sills; Sept. Σαφούτ v.r. Σεφφί; Vulg. Saphai), one of the sons of the Rephaim, or "the giants," slain by Sibbechai the Hushathite at Gezer (1 Chronicles 20:4), called in the parallel passage (2 Samuel 21:18) by the equivalent name SAPH (See SAPH) (q.v.).
