Sompnour
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(i.e. summoner), a term found in Chaucer and other of our older writers to designate the officer who is now called an apparitor, whose duty it is to summon delinquents to appear in ecclesiastical courts.
