Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Presbyterian minister, was born in 1823. After passing through the usual course of study, literary and theological, he was admitted to the ministry. In 1854 he accepted a call to the pastorate of the Presbyterian Church of Green Hill, Philadelphia, where he remained six years, preaching with great acceptance and success. In 1860 he accepted a call to the pastorate of the Presbyterian Church at York, Pa., where he continued four years, and resigned to accept a call from the North Presbyterian Church of New York city. He remained in this position until 1873, when he was called to the pastorate of the Church in Cortland, N.Y., and continued until released by death, suddenly, in the cars, on his way from Cortland to Syracuse, Oct. 16, 1878.
