Struthers, Gavin, D.D.

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Presbyterian divine, was born in 1790. He was educated at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and after studying divinity was called to the Anderston Relief Church, Glasgow, and was ordained in 1817. He was mainly instrumental in bringing about the union between the United Secession and the Relief Church, and was the author of the address read from all the pulpits of both denominations at its consummation; also author of Memoirs of American Missionaries (18mo): a History of the Relief Church: - and an Essay on Christian Union.
