A name of the following persons in the Old Testament: 1. A Danite (Numbers 13:12). 2. Father of Machir, of Lodebar (2 Samuel 9:4 et seq., 17:27). 3. Father of David's wife, Bathsheba ("Bathshua") (1 Chronicles 3:5; compare 2 Samuel 11:3). 4. A doorkeeper (1 Chronicles 26:5). For the meaning of the element Ammi, compare names Abi-el, [A]hi-el, Eli-am, 'Ammi-baal; and see 'Amm, Ammi.
