Hazarmaveth

The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia

Third son of Joktan, of the family of Shem (Genesis 10:26; 1 Chronicles 1:20). The name is preserved in the modern Hadramaut, a province of southern Arabia. Strabo (16:42) mentions the Χατραμωτῖται, one of the four chief tribes of southern Arabia, known for their traffic in frankincense.
