Burn; Burning

bûrn , bûrn´ing : Figurative: In addition to the ordinary meaning, burn is used metaphorically in the following passages of the New Testament:
(1) καίω , kaı́ō (Luke 24:32 ), "Was not our heart burning within us," i.e. greatly moved.
(2) πυρόω , puróō , used twice, once in the sense of inflamed with sexual desire (1 Corinthians 7:9 ), "For it is better to marry than to burn" and in 2 Corinthians 11:29 of the heat of the passions, here of grief, or anger, "Who is offended (the American Standard Revised Version "caused to stumble") and I burn not?"
