Adamah

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Adamah', אֲדָמָה, ground, as often; Sept. Ἀδαμί v. r. Ἀρμαίθ, Vulg. Edema), a fortified city of Naphtali, mentioned between Chinnereth and Ramnah (Joshua 19:36); probably the same as ADAMI (See ADAMI) (q.v.) of the same tribe (ver. 33). Schwarz, however (Palest. p. 183), thinks it is the present village Dama, situated, according to him, 5 English miles W.N.W. from Safed; but no such name is given by other travelers.
