Artaud, Pierre Joseph

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a French prelate, was born in 1706 at Bonieux, in the county of Venaissin. He went to Paris, and there 'distinguished himself as a preacher; became rector of St. Merry's, and in 1756 bishop of Canaillon. He died Sept. 5, 1760. He wrote, Panegyrique de St. Louis (1754):-Discours sur les Maliages, on the occasion of the birth of the duke of Burgundy (1757): - Mandements: -and Instructions Pastorales.
