Bacoue, Leon

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a French prelate, was born at Casteljaloux, in Lower Guienne, in 1608. He abjured the Protestant faith, in which he had been brought up, became a Recollect, and in 1672 was created bishop of Glandeve, whence, in 1686, he was translated to Pamiers, where he died, Jan. 13, 1694. He was the only converted Huguenot raised to the episcopate in the reign of Louis XIV. He wrote a Latin poem on the Education of a Prince (Toulouse, 1670), and some other works.
